- Abstract：Between August 1976 and May 1988,43 patients had their heart valve prostheses replaced. The total mortality was as high as 25.6%,but the operative mortality was reduced to 6.25% in the last 16 cases.The indications,main risk factors and surgical techniques are discussed.4|7|0Updated：2024-04-10
- Abstract：Antibodies raised against rabbit sperm membrane protein（rSMP-B）interacted with a rat testis cytosolic protein with an estimated molecular weight of 70 kD.The clone expressing rSMP-B was isolated by epitope selection from a rat testis,λgt11 vector cDNA library, An Eco Rl-eut 2.0 kb cDNA fragment encoding rSMP-B was identified.The cDNA fragment （RSD-1）was isolated,subcloned and restriction mapped.Dot hybridization analysis of mRNA prepared from human,rabbit and rat testes showed that the gene encoding rSMP-B is ex- pressed in the testes of all three mammals.5|17|0Updated：2024-04-10
- Abstract：Passive immunization of female mice by the intraperitoneal administration of ascitic fluids containing monoclonal antisperm antibodies blocked the development of mouse zygotes to morulae and blastocysts when cultured in vitro.Radioiodinated YWK-I monoclonal anti- bodies were prepared and administered intraperitoneally to Jemale mice.Significant radioac- tivity was found in washes of the oviductal lumens.The results suggest that antisperm antibodies block fertilization and may have a deleterious effect on early developing embryos.4|14|2Updated：2024-04-10
- Abstract：The changes of carbamyl phosphate synthetase I（CPS 1）in diethylnitrosamine-（DEN）-induced enzyme-altered liver cells were studied by means of immunohistochemical（PAP）and in situ cDNA-mRNA hybridization methods.The experimental rats were treated with DEN,2- acetylaminofluorene（2-AAF）and 2/3 hepatectomy according to Solt-Farber’s protocol and were further promoted by oral daily administration of 0.05% phenobarbital in drinking water. The results showed that the average number of lesions showing abnormal expression of CPS 1 was relatively constant over the course of the experiment（8 months）,while the number of normally expressing lesions gradually decreased.The former lesions were also larger in volume than the latter ones.We conclude that in DEN-initiated lesions the abnormally expressed CPS 1 lesions may grow continuously,thus leading to the formation of larger nodules.We also suspect that some of these lesions have increased tendencies to develop into tumors.4|11|0Updated：2024-04-10
- Abstract：It was found that the DNA-damaging agents N-methyl-N’-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine（MNNG）, methyl-methanesulphonate（MMS）and 4-nitroquinoline-N-oxide（4NQO）could stimulate ADP- ribosyl transferase（ADPRT）activity and reduce the cellular NAD content in a dose- dependent way.The reduction of NAD after DNA damage could be partially or completely prevented by ADPRT inhibitors,3-aminobenzamide or nicotinamide,which showed no influence on reduction of NAD induced by metabolic blocking agents.Therefore,a simple and specific method to detect DNA-damaging mutagens by measuring ADPRT-mediated decrease of cellular NAD content was explored.Using β-naphthofiavone,a mixed function oxygenase inducer,together with induced or uninduced human amnion FL cells,it was found that aflatoxin B1,benzo（a）pyrene,2-acetylaminofluorene,9,10-dimethylanthracene and ethylcarbamate could induce the ADPRT-mediated decrease of cellular NAD content,while 4-acetylaminofluorene,anthracene,isopropyl-N-（3-chlorophenyl）-carbamate,β-propiolactone, γ-butyrolactone,cyclophosphamide and safrol could not.The results indicate that this is a cheap and specific method to detect DNA damage caused by chemical carcinogens/mutagens with a spccificity approaching that of the unscheduled DNA synthesis assay.4|14|0Updated：2024-04-10
- Abstract：Gossypol-induced alterations of aminophospholipid composition in human sperm were observed and the effects of some factors on these alterations were investigated.The altera- tions of aminophospholipid composition of human sperm induced by gossypoI included a progressive decrease in the levels of phosphatidylethanolamine（PE）and phosphatidylserine （PS）when gossypol concentrations ranged from 5-500μmol/L,and a progressive increase in the level of（LPE）at lower gossypol concentrations（5-50μmol/L）.The conversion of PE into lysophosphatidylethanolamine（LPE）was strongly enhanced by Ca2+and inhibited by 0.5mmol/L EDTA,while PMSF,NEM,iodoacetamide and Zn2+had no effect.This conversion was weaker in sperm with stripped surface proteins than in normal sperm. In addition,three surface proteins（MW 80,60 and 40 kD）were fixed on the plasma membrane by gossypol treatment.The significance of gossypol action and the possibility that sperm PLA2, PE and.some surface proteins might play an important role in the physio- logical acrosome reaetion of human sperm,as well as in oocyte penetration,are discussed.4|6|0Updated：2024-04-10
- Abstract：The migratory pattern and attrition of75Se-labelled S.mansoni challenge cercariae in CF1 mice immunized 0,1,3, or 5 times with 12kR-or 48kR-irradiated cercariae were investigated by compressed organ autoradiography.Mice were percutaneously inoculated with 500-1000 cer- cariae for each immunization and with a known count of approximately 90 cercariae at a different site for challenge.The skin,lungs,liver,other organs,and catrcass were processed for autoradiography.Hepatic and mesenteric perfusions for worm collection were also sampled from day 19 through 34.In naive tnice,25% of challenge cercariae died in the skin.Skin attrition of challenge cercariae in mice immunized with 12kR-irradiated cercariae was 43% with 1 immunization,54% with 3,and 58% with 5,whereas in mice immunized with 48kR-irradiated cercariae,skin,attrition was48% with 1,63% with 3,and 76% with 5 immunni- zations.In all immunized mice,a high percentage of migrating sehistosomula died in the skin within 24 hours of a challenge infection.Utilizing autoradiography,it was found that the silver foci created by single labelled worms were difficult to differentiate from those of paired worms.This study documents the induction of acquired resistance against a challenge infection in the skin by vaccination with highly irradiated cercariae,with the degree of attemtation of immunizing cercariae and the number of immunizations being closely related to the attritiotn. rate in the skin.Finally,we discuss the contradictory views concerning the site of attritiotn of challenge cercariae.4|7|0Updated：2024-04-10
- Abstract：The feasibility and effects of a 3-year treatment using rifampicin（RFP）,clofazimine（B663） and dapsone（DDS）in multibacillary leprosy patients in Yangzhou Prefecture and Dongtai County（1983-1986）are reported.Among 591 active multibaeillary leprosy patients in the two areas,569 （96.30%）were treated with this regimen.of 303 cases available for analysis, 196（64.7%）cases showed negative skin smears and clinical inactivity.The rest showed different degrees of improvement.The average reduction of BI was 0.78.The intensity and frequency of ENL and neuritis decreased markedly with treatment.The main side- effects were pigmentation and ichthyosiform changes of the skin,but these did not influence treatment.4|8|0Updated：2024-04-10

- Abstract：During the course of malignant transformation of mammalian cells in vitro,a regular varia- tion in chromosome number and structure is usually found.In order to elucidate the rela- tionship between chromosomal changes and maligannt expression,we isolated fire clones from a malignant transformed Syrian hamster fibroblast cell line and analyzed their biological characteristics,as well as chromosomal changes.A positive correlation betweetn chromosome No 15 monosomy and the transformed and malignant phenotype was observed.We suggest that a suppression gene may be located on chromosome No 15,and its deletion or the loss of the chromosome may result in expression of the malignant phenotype.4|9|0Updated：2024-04-10
- Abstract：The effects of nimodipine on platelet aggregation and arachidonic acid（AA）metabolism were studied in order to explore its effect on patients with thrombosis or cardiovas- cular disease.The results indicate that nimodipine（50-350μmol/L）significantly inhibits platelet aggregation induced by ADP,AA,and ionophore A23187 in a dose dependent manner.The inhibitory effects induced by ionophore A23187 could be partially antagonized by calcium（1 mmol/L）.When the substrate was AA and the enzyme was supplied by pig lung microsomes,nimodipine（50-400μmol/L）significantly reduced the generation of TXB2 and 6-keto-PGF1a in parallel.When the substrate was prostaglandin endoperoxide, however,the levels of TXB2 and 6-keto-PGF1awere not significantly altered in the same concentration range.The results suggest that nimodipine is a cyclooxygenase inhibitor,and its ability to inhibit platelet aggregation is related to its calcium blocking effect.4|16|0Updated：2024-04-10

- Abstract：A Chinese woman of blood group B,D-and her husband of blood group AB,CCDee were examined.The woman had not been transfused before.Their first two babies died.Anti-Hro and anti-e were found in the mother’s serum.During her third pregnancy, the titer of antibodies went up quickly,approximately one titer per month.After 36 weeks of pregnancy,the baby was delivered by Caesarean section.The cord blood Hb was 88g/L, his red blood cell count 2.7×1012/L,and total biIirubin 114.6 mol/L.The baby was of blood group AB,and CDe-D-genotype.Exchangetransfusion was begun 2.5 hours after birth.O,ccDEE washed red cells together with group AB plasma were used.Two days later,7Oml washed O,ccDEE concentrated red cells were administered.The baby is alive and in good health.4|9|0Updated：2024-04-10
