Call papers for New Column of Data Articles
Scientific data is the basis for research and important supporting material for scientific papers. With the digitalization, interconnection, and globalization of scientific publications, open sharing of scientific data is increasingly valued by the global academic community. In recent years, some international publishers have introduced policies related to data publishing, even have set up data journals that focus on publishing data articles. The State Council promulgated the Measures for the Management of Scientific Data in April 2018, which strengthens and regulates the management of scientific data, emphasizes data security and data sharing, and proposes to actively promote the publication and dissemination of scientific data for the purpose to better support scientific and technological innovation in China. The publication of data descriptor is conducive to enhancing the discoverability and reusability of data resources, thus enabling the expansion of open sharing of datasets.
In order to promote the open sharing of medical research data in China, Chin J Med Sci and the Population and Health Data Archive (PHDA), an internationally recognized data warehouse, have jointly launched the "Data Article" section to publish data descriptor of valuable datasets in the form of data papers and establish connection with relevant datasets, for the purpose of increasing the discoverability and reusability of datasets and providing high quality, high integrity and high value datasets for researchers and the public, and improve the open sharing and reuse of medical researches.
Subject topics of data articles include but are not limited to:
clinical medical research (e.g. clinical cases datasets containing prognostic information, imaging, pathology, laboratory test indicators, gene expression, etc);
basic medical research;
public health and population researches;
drug development and pharmacological trials, etc.
Type of data includes but is not limited to:
clinical record data;
observation and testing data;
investigation and monitoring data;
computational and simulation data;
data resources obtained through analytical mining, etc.
Accepted data article after peer review will be published in the "Data article" section online and on the nearest issue of the printed journal. The online version of the article will have a two-way interconnection with the dataset in the data warehouse. Authors of the data article are responsible for the authenticity and legitimacy of the data.
